We are delighted to announce  that Harvey Girls and Dads 4 Dads has been singled out for its dedication to young parents in the borough with a prestigious award.

We have been awarded Support Staffordshire’s Volunteering Support Award for Young People in this year’s Star Volunteer Awards.

The award, which recognises a project that has made a difference to young people in East Staffordshire, has been handed to the charity for its dedication to empowering young families to reach their potential over the past decade.

Ian North, the charity’s Chief Executive, said: “The award is fantastic news for the charity. Over the past 11 years our volunteers have worked tirelessly to support young families in the area and it is nice to see their hard work recognised.

“We are the only charity of its kind in the UK and each year our outreach service supports 180 hard to reach families, and over 80 parents and 130 children benefit from our sessional support services. It is a valuable service that promotes a positive attitude to young parents and we could not do this without the tremendous efforts of our volunteers. I cannot thank you all enough. The work we do is really making a difference to young families and it is great for our volunteers to get the recognition they deserve.”

The charity also received a commendation in the Volunteer Team of the Year category and volunteer Katie Anson was shortlisted for the Volunteer of the Year award.

The Support Staffordshire Star Volunteer Awards recognise community groups and voluntary organisations across the borough in a number of categories.

East Staffordshire Family Support, which includes Harvey Girls and Dads 4 Dads, helps parents with young children by offering support and advice both in one to one and tailored group settings.
