Burton Albion Football Club (BAFC) are supporting Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford and his #ENDCHILDFOODPOVERTY campaign.
The campaign has reached all corners of the country after UK Government voted against providing 1.4 million disadvantaged children in England with £15 a week in food vouchers during holidays until Easter 2021.
In a response to the campaign, Burton Albion Football Club are giving out 100 free lunches every day to families during the half-term.
Every day during the October half-term, families can head to the Club Shop at Pirelli Stadium to collect a lunch pack.
Families can turn up between 9.30-12.30. There will be no questions asked and no judgement – just turn up.
Ian North, Chief Executive at East Staffordshire Family Support Service (Harvey Girls and Dads4Dads) said:
“This is a fantastic initiative from BAFC and it will make a huge impact in our local community. Our charity supports many families in Burton and the wider area, many who are vulnerable and will find support like this a lifeline during such a challenging time.”
“Anyone who needs support during the half-term, and beyond, can reach out to us for free and confidential help by calling 01283 533449”.
